EDIT

1 John 5:7

For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

Answer by Elijah
The Bible does not say those words because

“Neither the word Trinity, NOR THE EXPLICIT DOCTRINE as such, appears in the New Testament.” – The New Encyclopedia Britannica, 1985, Micropedia, vol. 11, p. 928.

An honest, clear statement of the Trinity Doctrine *would* be:

“For there are three persons who compose the only true God: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. And these three persons are the One God.”

It isn’t a difficult statement for anyone to write, let alone an inspired Bible writer. But you will never see that (not even once) in the inspired Scriptures.

Therefore, those who believe in the Trinity Doctrine are forced to rely on perhaps a dozen or two carefully picked passages in the Bible and interpret them the way that they want.

Even on page 630 of the highly trinitarian publication, Today’s Dictionary of the Bible, Bethany House Publishers, 1982, had to admit that

“The Trinity…is an INFERRED doctrine, gathered ECLECTICALLY from the entire Canon.”

Yes, many who believe that Jesus is God or in the Trinity rely only on a few selected, so-called ‘proof-texts’ (i.e. John 1:1, John 10:30, John 8:58, etc.) which, if carefully examined, are not proof of the Trinity in any way.

Answer by itry04
Obviously the Bible references God the Father on multiple occassions. That is, the Bible calls Jesus the Son of God. God is the Supreme Diety, the Creator of the Universe. Jesus, God’s only Son, was sent to Earth, not condem the World but to save it. The Bible tells us that no man comes to Father except through Jesus. While on Earth, Jesus taught that he was God. In fact, in John 10:30, we are told that Jesus and the Father are one. As to the Holy Spirit, upon Jesus’ death, the disciples were gathered in a home which was consumed by a rushing wind and tounges of fire sat above each of their heads. There are scriptures which explain, describe, or otherwise tell about the Holy Spirit which are too numerous to begin providing here. You might start with John 14:26 since you should already be near there looking up the first scripture I quoted.

Essentially, the Bible tells us that God the Father is the creator of the universe, the Father of man, the Supreme Diety who reigns over mankind. Jesus, as the Bible teaches, was one with God, the Son of God, sent to Earth to walk in the form of a man so that we who believe may not perish but have everlasting life. That everlasting life could only be obtained by adhering to Spirit of God, or the Holy Spirit, which is the only manner in which a man may experience God while he is here on this Earth. Why God would create such a paradigm, I am certain that no one can honestly answer. I suggest that it is more likely than not due to God’s plan which requires his followers to exhibit faith. It can best be described by saying that the faith of a Christian is stronger than any other as he must stand in the face of non-believers, be ridiculed, called stupid, thought of as less intelligent, and all of this done to him by the mouths and hands of men who question their existence and provide absolutely no logical reason for their existence other than to say that they are a product of science.

Notice how simple things get convoluted. Take this scripture-

1 John 5:7

For there are three that bear witness in heaven: the Father, the Word, and the Holy Spirit; and these three are one.

It goes from 3 bearing witness, to becoming one according to the trinity. However, simple reasoning shows the 3 are still 3 but are one in providing witness, not being.

I noticed someone posted a scripture in Acts. This doesn’t show the holy spirit being God at all. It’s sad they add to the Bible instead of just reading it.

Answer by new world
no where.

Answer by the Christian
It doesn’t…it doesn’t mean the bible doesn’t teach it…just because it’s not phrased in that particular way. Keep reading with lots of prayer, ask God to show you the truth.

God loves you….

Jesus Is God Made Flesh

Phil. 2:5-8: Jesus “being in the form of God” (i.e., deity), did not consider it something to cling to, but emptied himself of his divine glory, NOT his divine nature, and took UPON his divine form “the form of a servant” (i.e., humanity), in order to suffer death.

John 1:1,14: “In the beginning was (eternally) the Word and the Word was with God (i.e., the Father and Holy Spirit), and the Word was God (deity).” “And the Word was made flesh and dwelt among us.”

Hebrews 1:3 and 2:9-18: Jesus is the “EXACT REPRESENTATION of His (God’s) VERY BEING”. Jesus set aside his infinite glory to become one of us so that he could be to us an example in faith, the perfect sacrifice, our High Priest, Comforter, and Saviour

.

Who Is The “Angel Of God?”

Gen.16:7-13

Gen.18:1,13,17,20-22,26,33; 19:24

Gen. 22:11-18

Gen. 31:11-13

Gen. 32:24-30 (compare Hosea 12:4,5)

Gen.48: 15,16

Ex. 3:1-15 (compare vs. 5 with Joshua 5: 14,15)

Ex.23:20,21

Judges 6:11-23

Note: In these passages the “Angel of God” speaks as God, is called God, does the works of God, and is worshipped by those to whom He appears. He is Jesus, the Son of God. “Angel” means “messenger” and is applied to the angelic beings, men (evangelists), and to God.

John 14:28 “My Father is greater than I.” Just as the husband is positionally greater than the wife so the Father is greater the the Son. Both husband and wife are equally human as the Father and Son are equally divine.

Col.1:15 “the Firstborn over all creation.” “Firstborn” (Gr. Prototokos), not “first created” (Gr. “Protoktistos”). ‘Firstborn’ is term that means ‘first in inheritance’. These scriptures bear that out: Gen.41:51,52 with Jer. 31:9; Deut. 21:15-17; Ex. 4:22; and Job 18:13.

Rev.3:14 “the beginning of God’s creation.” We derive many words such as architect, archangel, arch-rival, from the Greek word “arche” translated “beginning” in this verse. It means “origin,” “source,” “chief,” and “ruler.” Jesus is the origin of ALL, the Creator

.

THE HOLY SPIRIT IS GOD

He Is Called God

Acts 5:3,4 Lying to the Spirit is lying to God

II Cor. 3:17 “The Lord is that Spirit.” (compare this with Ex. 34:29-35)

He Is Omnipotent

Isaiah 40:12-14 (See Romans 11:34, I Cor. 2:16)

He Is Omniscient

I Cor. 2:10,11 Isaiah 40: 13,14

He Is Omnipresent

Psalm 139

He Is Eternal

Heb. 9:14

He Has The Attributes Of Personality, Intellect

Rom. 8:27, “The MIND of the Spirit.”

I Cor. 2:10-12, The Spirit “KNOWS.”

Will I Cor.12:11, “The Spirit WILLS.”

Emotion

Eph. 4:30, “GRIEVE” not the Spirit

His Self awareness Is Shown By These Actions:

He Speaks

Acts 8:29; 10:19; 13:2; 21:11

Rev. 2:7,11,17,29; 3:6,13,22

He Teaches

Luke 12:12

John 14:26

I John 2:26,27

Says “I”

Acts 10:20

The Holy Spirit is a self aware personality, is eternal, He must be God, God is the only eternal being.

Conclusion

“So the Father is God, the Son is God, and the Holy Ghost is God. There are not three Gods, but one God.”

Answer by Waiting For Paradise
You will not find any such expressions in the Bible.

It’s more than a little strange that while Trinitarians are able to speak and reason so explicitly on the doctrine, the Bible itself is silent in making any explicit statements about it. The most explicit statement Trinitarians often ignorantly or dishonestly point to in the Bible (see one of the above answers), is the *fraudulent* version of 1John 5:7 — the Comma Johanneum:

http://www.angelfire.com/space/thegospeltruth/trinity/verses/1Jn5_7.html

The Bible’s silence in contrast to the Trinitarians’ explicit explanations, prove that the doctrine is a creature of the minds of Trinitarians and not of the Bible — not of Truth. This is why Trinitarians must resort to twisting scriptures and reading fallacious arguments and reasonings into them to make them seem to support their man-made doctrine.
