hmmmm brainstorming always helped when i had to write speeches so….

okay first things that come to my mind…..

cadences – military type “songs” that they “sing/chant” while running, during PT…. keeps them in step with the other, teaches timing and “balance”, builds stamina/endurance….. singing while running is not easy, teaches them to listen (to follow the DI), teaches them to HEAR what the person is saying as well as the person next to them….

(this would be fun for demonstrative!!)

marches – sousa was popular for this…. they are encouraging and uplifting giving your mind the boost as often needed for “energy” to celebrate a victory or even continue forward in battle. listen to movies such as saving private ryan…. listen with and then without sound. then get to the part where they are in the “town” and he finds a record player….. music also “tames the savage beast”. older movie would be Yankee Doodle Dandy it’s all about how music can effect patriotism and how George M Cohan was awarded the congressional medal of honour…. for military music!! you can look at old fourth of july celebrations as well and see how the marches bring people together and to their feet Yankee Doodle Dandy WWI without William Tell TC subject speech PT NY music Military important help hear good fans DIY Canon camera Bugs Bunny better answer How good speech on the subject of music / Military? httpcameracanon professional blogspot com

bugler….. not THAT is a whoreveillery in and of itself…. from Taps to revily to the call to order and mess and all the others. there is a whole story behind the call of the bugle that would be a great tool. no matter what the language (especially in WWI) the guys knew what to do, where to go or how to act. there is also the piping of people on and off a ship, and other things like that with the “pipes”. you could do something on about the way music/tunes/melodies were used as a wordless communication. mbattalionther was in a charge of a calvary batallion of Polish immigrants in WWI – because he spoke the language and was pretty big & thus rather imposing Yankee Doodle Dandy WWI without William Tell TC subject speech PT NY music Military important help hear good fans DIY Canon camera Bugs Bunny better answer How good speech on the subject of music / Military? httpcameracanon professional blogspot com once they were taught the “melodies” you didn’t have to tell them, they heard and knew what to do. there were many men from other countries that had recently immigrated that signed up to fight for their new country. this type of “music” has been used for about ever…. “sound the charge” …. the horn was louder then any voice Yankee Doodle Dandy WWI without William Tell TC subject speech PT NY music Military important help hear good fans DIY Canon camera Bugs Bunny better answer How good speech on the subject of music / Military? httpcameracanon professional blogspot com

well…. i hope that gives you some ideas or at least a place to start.

There are numerous studies which suggest that listening to classical music will help you learn/improve your math skills. Perhaps you could read them and then try to convince your audience (I’m assuming they are fellow students) to try it (persuasive speech). You could add some humor to your speech (very important considering your audience) by playing two different kinds of music (say, classical and rap or heavy metal) while they try to solve a math problem you’ve wriiten on the board. It’s tough to concentrate on math when lyrics are involved. Suggestions for some good classical tunes and some (bad) puns to go with them:

the William Tell overture (no, it’s not a pass he made at a girl)

In the Hall of the Mountain King/ Peer Gynt (you might recognize this if you’ve ever watched Bugs Bunny)

, Pachelbel’s “Canon” (not a military weapon)

, Bach’s “Air in G string” (no, that’s not a bathing suit),

Flight of the Bumble Bee,

the Sabre Dance (Buffalo, NY hockey fans know this one)

Have fun!

“Canon 5D Mark II” setup shot

Reputation merely by “Canon 5D Mark II” setup shot

This is the setup I used for the "Canon 5D Mark II" shot. Check the notes for details.

Camera on tripod and triggered by TC-803N remote. Shot with a 17-40mm f/4L at 35mm, manual mode, ISO 200, 1/30 second at f/11.

Lit with two flashes, triggered remotely by Canon ST-E2. Front lighting by one Canon 580 EX II at camera right at 1/128 power and full zoom. At camera left I placed a Lastolite Triflip with silver covers to act as fill on the grip.

As top and rim light I used a handheld Canon 430 EX at 1/64 power and full zoom. This flash was snooted with a DIY snoot, in order to minimize light spill.

Background was pieces of black cardboard taped together. I removed the seams in Photoshop.

well a slr camera has the benefit of getting wut u c through the lens (through a view finder u get a different view of the shot than ure actually getting and better low light photos better appature etc.) but idk about the eos other than ive heard of canon eos line which are slr cameras. You can find slr cameras for decent prices usually on circuit city sometimes or maybe amazon.

“eos” is the series of cameras…like “powershot” is canons series of point and shoot cameras

“slr” means single lens reflex and is the type of camera it is

all canon “eos” cameras are a “slr”

is that budget for camera or camera and lens?

if its for both you might get a 350D or if your lucky a 20D with a kit lens

id get a cheap prime such as the “35mm 2.8″ or the “50mm 1.8″ along with it so you can learn

As stated above, an EOS is a Canon trademark for their brand of DSLR.

That being said, my recommendation for a starter DSLR for $ 600-$ 700 would be a $ 525 Nikon D40.

Here’s one kit with two lenses and the D40 body for under $ 700.

EOS means “SLR” at Canon – so same difference professional like difference cameras between What is the difference between a SLR and EOS cameras (professional) Id like to buy? httpcameracanon professional blogspot com

Your budget seems fairly modest. You cannot get a new Canon SLR kit for that money – and anyway, the kit lens 18-55m is not very good.

Here is what I’d do:

- look for new 350Ds out there (digital rebel XT). There may be a few new ones still for sale grom old stock (the 400D was announced Aug ’06). It’s only 8mp to the 400D’s 10mp, but this makes no difference.

- wait until the 400D sees its replacement model, and then look to buy a discounted 400D. But their cycle seems to be about 18mos so you’d have 6 months to wait

- try to find a second-hand 350D (or why not a 400D from someone who’d have upgraded to a prosumer), ideally w a better lens than the kit lens. Those things exist. Now of course you’ll have the usual risks when buying second-hand electronics – but if you buy this from a good shop (or a good friend), you should be ok

Good luck

well, I’m not an accounting major but i will tell you this. you need to take stupid GE courses which is pretty much a waste of time i mean some classes. my major is in medical field but i took or i am finally done with those GE courses after this Thursday final. point is yes you need to take classes that doesn’t count towards your major for your freshman and sophomore year. once you are done, then you are on your own. which means you’ll get in to you’re major and take only your major classes. Good luck!

Answer by matt

You really have this backwards. The real question is, should a person be allowed to pick a specific subject to study as a major before they have received enough general education to be able read, write, spell, do critical analysis, use logic, distinguish properly between common grammatical forms such as ‘you’re’ instead of ‘your’, “canon” instead of “cannon”, etc.

College is not trade school. College graduates are, still, supposed to be educated. You get a Bachelor of Arts, not a Bachelor of Accounting or a Bachelor of Biology.

The most respected colleges in America mostly have rather strict and difficult core curricula that have to be mastered before the students can complete their majors. Two of the most famous examples are Columbia and University of Chicago, but Harvard, Duke and almost all of the rest of the elite schools more or less follow suit, with only a couple of exceptions.

IT has been argued quite a lot recently that because technology and society in general are changing so fast, that trying to teach specific job skills is a waste of time – what is needed is to teach students only general courses such as logic, math, physics, chemistry, rhetoric, etc. Once they learn to think, read and write clearly, then being trained for a job is trivial.

Answer by Dr. Mick

The notion of a Literary Canon is based in the belief that there are certain works of literature that are masterpieces and universally recognized and appreciated for their artistic value. The notion of a Canon is not universally accepted and widely argued.

In 1994 Harold Bloom, a Sterling Professor of the Humanities at Yale University published “The Western Canon,” a survey of Western literature works from antiquity to the present that Bloom considers to be these great masterpieces.

Bloom was not the first to publish a list. Robert Hutchins, a former president of the University of Chicago published a “Great Books” list with the help of Mortimer Adler in the 1940s and in 1909-1910 Charles Eliot, then president of Harvard published his own list calling it the “Harvard Classics.”

All of these lists are available on the web. Try “Harold Bloom The Canon,” or “The Great Books” or “Harvard Classics.”

Of course, it’s the 7th century. The Catholic Church had not yet finished its work of unifying the doctrine.

This underlines one of the main myths of fundamentalist Christianity today, mainly the idea that early Christianity was closer to its roots, and therefore less diversified. Nothing could be further from the truth. The early Church (i.e. Catholic) was aware of having the role of a unifier, because things were not unified. In fact, early Christianity was a ragtag of diverse and often contradictory beliefs. A letter could take months to cross the ancient world, if not years. In that climate, sectarian groups flourished and the Church set out on its mission to unify them.

Answer by Eclectic Heretic

There are actually several “infancy” gospels among the 80+ gospels that were extant at one time. The Gospel of Thomas came very close to being included in the official “canon” of the bible instead of the Gospel of John, quite a few of the bishops at the Council of Nicaea preferred Thomas to John but they got outvoted. (Don’t forget that the 3 “epistles” of Paul, Titus and I and II Timothy, were actually written in the 3rd or 4th centuries and those DID make it into the “canon”.)

Although the early church did try to destroy as much of the apocrypha as they could, there were plenty of copies of the early writings floating around and apparently the Arabs had access to these texts along with the “official” versions of the Old/New Testaments.

(At least they had good taste, the Gospel of Thomas IS much better than that of John.)

Blessings on your Journey!

Answer by lenslenders

Twenty years ago, when autofocus technology was getting affordable enough for regular photographers to buy, Canon created a brand new lens mount and named it “EF”. Every Canon digital SLR uses the Canon “EF” lens mount.

The “EF-S” means the lens is designed for the APS-sized digital sensors. Not the bigger, “full frame” Canon models. An EF-S lens can only be used on a EF-S digital camera.

You can, however, also use a common Canon EF autofocus lens on your Rebel XT too.

Your local camera store can help you. Bring your camera to your local camera store and give the lens a try. This is exactly the value of getting to know the people at your local camera store.

Answer by NickP

Taking your question apart, I’ll show you why we need more information. Everything you mention is too general. Cheap, what is cheap to you may not be cheap to me. Many people consider a pair of Nike shoes @ $ 70.00 cheap. If I were to spend $ 70 on a pair of Nike’s, my wife would want me committed!

What is “good quality”. To many people who ask a question on Yahoo Answers “good quality” means a sharp 4×6 print with good color. To me it means an 11×14 print, that is sharp as a tack. What company makes the best digital cameras. Well my answer to that is Canon. Why? Two reasons. One I have owned Canon cameras all my life and they have served me well. The second reason is recent: I had an opportunity to visit a camera shop in a neighboring town. They had professional lighting equipment and their camera selection was all Canons, from the simplest point & shoot to the most expensive DSLR.

They had taken the exact same shot (on a tripod, of course) and blown each one up to a 16×20 print.

The result was amazing. at a viewing distance of a little more than 6ft you could not distinguish between the photo’s. I had to get within 6-to-12 inches to see a difference. So does “Canon” answer your question? ,Yes generally but I have a pocket Pentax that I would pit against the Canon product.

I have a Kodak product (yes Kodak!) the Z980 with a German lens that is sharp as a tack. I also have a Fuji product, a 5 mg from the early days of digital that I have seen fantastic 20×30 prints.

So my advice to you is read all you can, visit web sites of the major camera mfr’s. Go to the stores and try out the cameras. Because now you know which ones have the quality you want and the budget you want to spend. The decision comes down to which has the location of controls and is the most comfortable for YOU to operate.

To do anything else is to buy a camera “someone else” likes.

How when some do not “literary canon?”?

Dilemma caused by Katie S: How does when become part of the “literary canon?”?

What I mean to ask is, when was Jane Austen considered part of the canon and how does that come about? Is it just assumed that she is part of the canon? Is it because her works have survived? Also, were female writers back then (especially since she was a novelist) allowed to be part of the canon?

Answer by Bob Johnson

The idea of a literary canon also implies some such official status. To enter the canon, or more properly, to be entered into the canon is to gain certain obvious privileges. So the writer’s work needs to be approved by critics, the public and his contemporaries.

Belonging to the canon confers status, social, political, economic, aesthetic, none of which can easily be extricated from the others. Belonging to the canon is a guarantee of quality.

Hence, when Jane Austen began gaining increased critical recognition for her works and they are increasingly reproduced and read, she is merely a popular writer. But if we can conclude that her works have great social and aesthetic influence, and that it can be objectively defined as a great work and immortalized as such, her works have entered the western literary canon.

There have been feminist response to the idea of the literary canon, and they argue that works of women and homosexuals and other marginalized social groups are usually neglected. And I do think that female writers do face some resistance, in the sense that many of them will be judged by male standards. But Jane Austen’s works are very much universal in a certain sense, hence, they can be appreciated by both men and women.

Answer by Eibhlinn

Hard to explain the exact process, but it goes through the Academics. Basically when university professors and lecturers start studying a book, it gains a more official status.

a howitzer is a rifles artillery piece for medium range bombardment, a canon is a weapon with a smooth bore tube, and a gun is a hand weapon.

Answer by xXGarandOwnerXx

A Howitzer is a type of canon that is loaded from the rear, usually with a self-contained shell. A canon and a gun are both just general terms for an un-rifled piece of artillery. And if a piece of artillery has a rifled barrel, it is call a rifle. Even if its a large piece of artillery, such as a naval gun.

Answer by Janella

a howitzer is a type of cannon. it uses munitions as opposed to classic cannons which used various types of balls. howitzers load from the rear and have recoil suppression. classic cannons load in front and recoil wildly. there are cannons that do load from the rear without recoil suppression; they are generally post civil war era and mounted on wheels for ease of transport . these also use munitions and some have rifling like the howitzer.

guns are hand held, rifled weapons that load at rear or under neath, come in many ballistic sizes, as well as revolver and semi- automatic.

most types of fully automatic weapons are rifles of some sort, however there are people who alter semi automatic hand guns illegally.

Answer by Wayne C

Trajectory angle, propellant load/muzzle velocity, barrel length. Cannon can describe either.

Answer by JBF

Today? Not much.

Traditionally a howitzer has a short barrel. That’s it. That is the definition. Many people think a howitzer has to be capable of high elevation fire but in the strict definition of the term that is not mentioned.

A gun is used for low-angle fire and typically has a long barrel firing and medium to high velocities.

Today most artillery are referred to as gun-howitzers as they combine features traditionally associated with both types.

It is a Canon “Rebel” – but whether it is a T2i, T3, T3i or T4 is unknown.

Remember, it is pointed at a mirror, so reverse the image. Then compare to

How do I keep the Star Wars universe, such as the Canon?

Uncertainty from Leo: How does something like the Star Wars Universe maintain its canon?

Answer by Goodfella_7

Lucas Licensing maintains a database of the fictional elements of Star Wars called the Holocron continuity database. It was developed by Leland Chee in 2000. According to him, there are items in the database that have been submitted at the earliest stages, but have never been published about or seen in a Star Wars medium so the database is very rarely ever in public display.

The Holocron is an internal database maintained for the express purpose of trying to maintain continuity within all licensed products. The Holocron is sorted into four levels of canon, reflecting LFL’s canon and continuity policies: G, C, S, and N.

G (George Lucas) canon is absolute canon. This category includes the six films, the deleted scenes from the films, the novelizations of the films, the radio dramas based on the films, the film scripts, and any material found in any other source (published or not) that comes directly from George Lucas himself. G canon outranks all other forms of canon.

C (continuity) canon refers to the main body of EU work, and is the next most authoritative level of canon. All material published under the Star Wars label that doesn’t fall into either G, S, or N canon is C canon and is considered authoritative as long as it isn’t contradicted by G canon.

S (secondary) canon refers to older, less accurate, or less coherent EU works, which would not ordinarily fit in the main continuity of G and C canon. For example, this includes the popular online roleplaying game Star Wars Galaxies, and certain elements of a few N-canon stories.

N continuity material is also known as “non-canon” or “non-continuity” material. What-if stories (such as those published under the Infinities label) and anything else that cannot at all fit into continuity is placed into this category. “N-continuity” is not considered canon.

Yeah some anime fans are like that, especially with what you mentioned and the pairing wars >.< Like Naruhina vs Narusaku or Ichihime vs Ichiruki, some fans are just petty or people might bicker whose a better fan-girl for so and so, you know? Like I know this girl at my school who created a OC (Original Character) and was convinced she would be with Uryu from bleach and would bash anyone who shipped Uryu with "canon" characters or was also a fan of him for not agreeing with her. So Yeah its just crazy and some fans are like that, but I guess there are nutters in every fandom lol (I've seen them in Star Wars, Harry Potter, Kingdom Hearts and Fullmetal Alchemist to name a few).

Some people just get a bit too into the anime. It’s not just when people disagree with them. If you read some of the comments people make on Youtube for episodes of anime you’ll notice a few overreactions.

One suggestion, is to get a card reader which plugs into a usb port. Then remove the card from the camera, and insert into reader. No need to hook the camera up to the computer.

Answer by epic_laydown

if the software thing won’t work, and the USB cable method will not work, you might want to try using a card reader. They are about 10-15 dollars and they’re super easy to use. You plug the flash card into the card reader, then the card reader goes into your computer. Then you can transfer images to your computer by copying them to a file.

It is possible that your computer is older and has an older operating system. Could that be it?

All the DSLR cameras at the lower end have basically the same tools and the quality. It is the photographer that gets great shots and not the camera. The thing that will help you get the best pictures is a camera you are comfortable shooting with. How it fits your hand and where the controls are play a big role in allowing you to create freely. I recommend trying many models and getting the one that is most comfortable to you. Cameras from all brands have very happy owners as well as dissatisfied customers so it’s good to try your options.

There’s nothing ambiguous about the pronunciation if you’re acquainted with very basic Albanian. If not, then it’s pronounced something like “kah-noon,” [kaˈnun] [IPA] though the first vowel is short.

This word is cognate to the English word “canon” (as in a set of laws, usually religious laws, not the artillery piece) and comes from the same Latin word.

Answer by Existentialist Absurd Hero

It started in Indian / Tibet and went to China and ended up in Japan. Zen is a specialized Japanese form of Zen using Koans [paradoxical riddles to enable enlightenment] which the other branches of Buddhism don’t use. So I would say, it comes down to the rituals and methods used to reach enlightenment that distinguishes them apart. IMHO.

Answer by TheKitten

They’re both offshoots of the Mahayana (Greater Vehicle) school of thought.

These schools are characterized by accepting a large body of text after the reign of Asoka in India as authentic. It’s kind of a “canon” issue, but that word has strong cultural implications in the west that don’t fit the Buddhist world in general.

But in a strange way, they also seem to be almost diametrically opposed.

Tibetan Buddhism seems to be the very incarnation of Buddhism as a religion, while Zen/Ch’en Buddhism tends to be the epytome of Buddhism as a philosophy. Ch’en is the Chinese name by the way. The movement started in China. Zen is the Japanese word.

Ch’en is also thought to have been strongly influenced by, and to also have strongly influenced Taoism. Ch’en/Zen tends to focus on quiet forms of meditation, where one seeks to silence one’s mind. It tends to discourage complicated theology and yes, Zen is the movement where they have koans. In some Zen ceremonies, students and master sit in a circle and ask nonsensical questions and give nonsensical answers to each other. There’s a certain kind of question and answer format, but I understand it can get very free-flowing and strange.

Tibetan Buddhism is mixed in with monarchic traditions and the Dalai Lama title is a title tought to be passed on through different incarnations of the same being. They have a pantheon with many deities. They have prayers, chants. They also meditate, but they tend to favor imagery-based meditation, or feeling-based, as opposed to the Ch’en Buddhists, who generally meditate on emptiness, etc…. (Meditation in the orient is a whole subject on its own – keep in mind all of this is very diverse).

To give you an idea, maybe:

Here’s a Tibetan ritual.

They can draw complicated mandallas in the sand. It takes hours, sometimes a whole 2 days of work. And they are beautiful works of art. But then, they erase them, because it was never important. It would be easy to dismiss the Tibetan view as a bit outside of mainstream Buddhism because of the complex theology, but rituals like these show a deeper aspect of the thought process behind it. It is very ceremonial, but then they act as thought it doesn’t truly matter.

canon.

Answer by EDWIN

The Pavlovian response in here is “Canon” or “Nikon” since those are brands people are familiar with.

However, there are other brands worth considering that have features not found on any Canon or Nikon – at least not yet.

Sony is one to consider. They have two models – the SLT A33 and the SLT A55 – that allow full-time continuous auto focus whether you’re shooting still pictures or 1080 video. This is made possible by what Sony calls Translucent Mirror Technology (TMT). This also allows shooting at 7fps with the A33 and 10fps with the A55 (fps = frames per second). Canon and Nikon have models that allow auto focus when shooting video but only then. The A33 and A55 both have 2D or 3D Sweep Panorama as well.

The A33 and A55 have a focusing motor in the camera body. They also have Sony’s version of Image Stabilization (IS) in the camera body so any lens used becomes an IS lens. Nikon and Canon have their versions of IS is in some but not all of their lenses so you have to pay for it with every lens. The lower-level Nikon DSLRs such as the D3000, D3100, D5000 and D5100 all require use of the more expensive Nikon AF-S lenses for auto focus.

The Sony DSLR cameras use the legacy Minolta Maxxum “A” lens mount introduced in 1985. Any Maxxum AF lens ever made can be used on the A33 and A55 and they will auto focus as they should and be, in effect, an IS lens. In my opinion having access to all those legacy lenses that will auto focus on the A33 and A55 is a major plus.

A33 review: http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/AA33/AA33A.HTM

A55 review: http://www.imaging-resource.com/PRODS/AA55/AA55A.HTM

The differences between the two models:

http://www.digitalphotographywriter.com/2010/08/sony-a33-vs-a55-whats-difference.html

The determining factor in the quality of the pictures from any camera is the person using the camera. Always remember this: “It isn’t the camera its the photographer”. You must be willing to spend time reading and studying the Owner’s Manual for whatever camera you buy. You must also be willing to spend time learning about photography. There is more – much, much more – to photography than just buying a camera and pointing it at something and clicking the shutter release.

You must learn about light, composition and exposure and then practice using that knowledge until you’re skilled in combining the light, composition and exposure to make the picture you want to make. These sites will help you:

Since you say you want to do some band photography you need to know that a lens purchase is in your future. Although the 18-55mm f3.5-5.6 zoom lens that comes with the A33 or A55 is a reasonably decent lens it really isn’t suited for use indoors in low-light situations without using the flash. For those conditions you’ll need a fast prime lens like a Maxxum 50mm f1.4 (prime is a term used for a fixed focal length lens – it has no zoom feature). A 50mm f1.4 lens also allows you to use a lower ISO indoors and still maintain a fast shutter speed. This site will help you understand the idea: http://www.calcualtor.org/exposure.aspx Look at the Scene ‘Domestic interiors at night, subject lit by campfire or bonfire’ and choose ISO 400. At f1.4 your shutter speed will be around 1/60 sec. – a bit slow if there is any subject movement. However, at f3.5 your shutter speed will be approximately 1/10 sec. and the slightest subject movement will be blurry. (Since there is no f3.5 shown and I know that f3.5 is 1/3 stop faster than f4.0 I extrapolated a shutter speed by adding 33% to the shutter speed shown for f4.0 on the chart). Now look at the shutter speed for f5.6 – 1/4 sec. At this slow of a shutter speed camera movement as well as subject movement will result in a blurry image. To achieve a shutter speed equal to or greater than 1/60 sec. at f1.4 at ISO 800 the f3.5 lens will require using ISO 3200. At f5.6 an ISO of 6400 is needed to produce a 1/60 sec. shutter speed.

So take a serious look at the Sony SLT A33 and SLT A55. Spend time at the sites referenced. Photography is a never-ending learning experience.

now its up to you to see which camera you like. The most powerful camera for stills is the D7000, as well as having the best low light capabilities, which you may want when shooting a band in darker venues.

Then get Leica M9 it’s not DSLR but it out performance any DSLR. It’s light, solid, compact and a great looker!!

Answer by KB

For Band photography?

Get the Nikon D7000 and a 70-200mm f2.8 VR2 lens to go with it. It is fantastic in low light and indoors, shoots a high framerate to keep up with the action, does 1080p full HD video and takes an external mike for higher quality sound, and is easy to use (but gives you many controls to use when you become more seasoned or advanced). The Lens I recommended (70-200mm f2.8) will not only enhance your low light capibilities of your camera but will give you wonderful quality closeups a kit lens cannot do…

Lens for my Canon EOS 5D mark II?

Uncertainty written by Bailey: What lenses should I get for my Canon EOS 5d mark ii?

I’m getting either a Canon EOS 5d mark ii or mark iii for my birthday and was wondering what lenses would best work with the quality of the camera. I travel a lot, so this camera is an investment for me. I shoot mostly landscape and architecture, along with people. I know that because this camera is such good quality, you really need a phenomenal lens to keep up with it.

This is now facts to consider about What lenses should I get for my Canon EOS 5d mark ii? may will need to solve issues on their very own. With luck , this’ll help in several ways, and then make your own life considerably better. Praying facts to consider about What lenses should I get for my Canon EOS 5d mark ii? are generally a method into the future.

Answer by selina_555

You make it sound like you’re very experienced, yet you don’t know what lenses you want?

For landscape and architecture, you need a wide lens. For the people shots you would probably want something a bit longer than the nifty fifty since you’re going full frame (although it would still do).

L lenses are Canon’s top of the line.

Check out the Canon website – the best place to study what’s available.

Answer by fhotoace

Any Canon EF lens. EF-S lenses cannot be used on your camera.

http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/consumer/products/cameras/ef_lens_lineup

For landscapes, you will want the Canon EF 16-35 mm f/2.8 lens

When I travel, I carry a Nikkor 14-24 mm, Nikkor 24-70 mm and 105 mm macro lens.

Answer by Carolyn

I like to use the Lynny Lens. It’s a really cool selective focusing, creative effects lens. It’s a lot of fun, and works on Canon 5D Mark ii perfectly.

Answer by Andrew

If you can’t answer this question for yourself, you’d be better off with an entry-level model and 18-55mm.

Answer by B.E.I.

With a 5D, you can only use the EF series lenses. If you try to use an EF-S lens you will damage the cameras mirror. The Canon “L” series lenses are the top of the line.

With that said, remember…photography is NOT a cheap hobby or profession.

For architecture, you will want/need a Tilt/Shift lens. They start at $ 1,400 and go up http://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/search?sts=ta&Ns=p_PRICE_2%7c0&ci=15492&N=4293919655+4291570227+38&srtclk=sort&Ntt=tilt+shift

For “landscape”, then you will normally want a wide or ultra wide lens, like a 14mm or 17-40mm

For “people” (assuming portraits), I use a 50mm f/1.4, an 85mm f/1.8, and a 70-200 f/2.8L.

In other words…you can EASILY invest $ 10,000+ in lenses for your camera. Then, add in another $ 300 for a decent tripod, $ 150 for a monopod, $ 100 for a nice padded case for the camera/lenses, and another $ 200 to cover extra batteries/memory cards/miscellaneous supplies

Answer by ooo

Consider the ”holy trinity” of zooms. The Canon 16-35f2.8L II, the Canon 24-70f2.8L II and the 70-200f2.8L IS II. If primes are your go then get the 35f1.4 L, the Canon 85f1.2L II and the Canon 135f2 L. One problem given you travel a lot will be weight. Some airlines are now weighing carry ons. 7kgs for domestic flights and 10kgs, in 2 separate bags, for International flights. Its a real pain.

P.S. Don’t let anyone tell you you need ultrawides to shoot landscapes, you don’t.

How do you learn how to listen to classical music?

Quandary basically by mj6118: How can I learn how to listen to classical music?

Hello, I was wandering if anyone knew how to properly listen to classical music. I would appreciate any tips or where to learn. basically, what I am asking is how can I feel or interpret emotion, or musicality? I am young and I just got into classical. This seems to be against my generation right now, but I still think it’s cool. Any help is appreciated.

That is pertaining to How can I learn how to listen to classical music? that you may have got to fix conditions themselves. Now this will assist you in many ways: that will create everything greater. Thinking pertaining to How can I learn how to listen to classical music? would be a simple solution in time.

It really helps when you turn

on a classical song and try

to image a story that goes

along with the music. Like during

fierce music, people running away

from something.

During relaxing music, kids playing

in the sunshine, in a really pretty

field of tall grass.

And try not to really think about what

to imagine, just let things pop into

your mind. That way, you get to fell

the music more and connect to it.

Hope that helped.

Answer by Schumiszt

I didn’t know listening to music was a skill…

Just… Play music… Viola! You’re listening to classical music!

It’s rather fun to follow along in the score. Listen for the melody, or dissect polyphony. Pay attention to the form of music, you know some music is a Rondo, for example. Rondo’s have the form ABACA, or ABACABA… Listen to the performers passions and nuance, watch their hands or mouth, or whatever they’re using. Watch them connect to the music. Understand certain periods and styles and genres, and compare how well the performer interpreted the music to that period or style or genre. Find interpretations you like of certain pieces. Compare others interpretations to your favorite one/s.

It really isn’t hard, just make sure you enjoy yourself. Music wasn’t entirely meant to be examined under a microscope, it was meant to communicate the beauties of this world…

I’m not entirely a “Music Appreciation” professor…

Good luck!

Answer by Kalibasa

I just answered a similar question yesterday music listen learn classical How do you learn how to listen to classical music? httpcameracanon professional blogspot com I would recommend you get this book; it’s reliable, fun to read, and it breaks down classical music into the greatest composers and gives you a “starter kit” for each- five works to listen to first. Some people will complain about “ranking” music, which obviously you can’t do!, but it will give you a place to start. It also explains everything in terms that aren’t too long or technical- the different instruments, the different periods of music, what is a symphony vs. a concerto, you get the point. Here’s the book, haha it’s only 7c used (trust me, it is good!):

http://www.amazon.com/Classical-Music-Phil-G-Goulding/dp/0449910423

You need to understand that there is *tons* of classical music with *tons* of different styles. Some styles and works are likable right away, while others take a lot of time, work, and patience. Except for certain works everyone likes (ex. Air on a G String- don’t laugh- and Toccata and Fugue in D minor), Bach is harder. It’s very mathematical and it’s a different style of music (called polyphony) than what we use today. I might not start with him, but believe me he’s amazing and you will love him eventually. In general, classical music is more structured than other genres, which is its great strength but makes it a little harder to get into. Just give it time! You’ll have to listen to most works most than once to like them, but then it blows you away… Some of the more modern music is hard to get into, as is a some of the “Classical” (Mozart, Haydn, late 1700′s). (We call it “classical music” in general, but Classical describes a particular period) Some of the latter might sound “boring,” but it’s not boring- it’s just elegant and subtle, and takes a little time to grow into.

You don’t have to learn to “feel” music- that comes naturally! But interpreting music is another matter, and a good question. When you listen to a work that is famous, look up *why* it’s famous. Sometimes it’s just “melodic” (aka pretty) but often there is something special or innovative about it; knowing this will make you appreciate it more. For example, 95% of the people who “love” Pachelbel’s Canon love it because it’s pretty (which is still a good reason), but they have no idea that it’s a round (aka “canon”). Knowing this makes you realize just how brilliant it is, hearing the way the voices work. And the more you listen to classical music, the more you will start to see these kinds of things for yourself

Start with Tchaikovsky, Mendelssohn, and Beethoven- they’re all likable by anyone. Doesn’t mean they’re inferior!, just more immediatelly appealing- more energetic or more melodic. I would start in general with anything in the Romantic period (basically the 1800′s).

Answer by simpleexpres

Don’t make it sound so gay…”interpret emotion..?”. Listen to it, if you like, you like it, if you don’t, then turn it off.

Answer by GazeRock

It sounds like you are forcing yourself to listen to classical music.

No one can teach you how to “feel or interpret emotion” >_>… Because then you’re not feeling it, you’re thinking “okay gotta feel this emotion, cause someone told me to,” and that just isn’t right.

Just turn the music on and let your ears/mind take over, if you don’t like it turn it off… don’t sit there trying to force yourself to “feel” the music >_>…

Answer by Grasshopper

How can I learn how to listen to classical music? Is a redundant question, you have to feel it. Listen to any classical piece and the composer forces you to feel what he was feeling at the time.

My Kodak easy share camera lens when I try to upload pictures interfere says. On my computer, why?

Predicament basically by The King: my kodak easy share camera says lens obstructed when I try uploading the pics. to my computer, why?

My nephew sat on the camera, but not hard, and now when I plug it in my computer to upload the pics. it says lens obstructed and turns off. Also all the pictures I take are blurry now. I didn’t think him barely sitting on it would damage it. I tried cleaning the lens but it still says that. Anything else I can do?

Answer by Good

Seems you nephew sat on it hard. An authorized repair shop would be able to provide a solution.

Otherwise, take the memory card out and put it in a different SD Card slot and capture images using your card reader.

Answer by flyingtiggeruk

It looks like your nephew sitting on the camera has moved the lens out of position. These things are quite fragile and it doesn’t take a lot of force to damage them. The cost of repair will probably be more than a replacement camera.

Answer by Petra_au

Most Kodak cameras have poor build quality, so it’s full understandable that your camera lens seems to be damaged after someone sat on it. But, many compact cameras wouldn’t tolerate being sat on, particularly if the lens is extended.

Don’t blame your nephew though…it’s your fault for carelessly leaving it where it could be sat on.

To transfer your images to your computer, just use a USB card reader. They cost less than $ 10. If you have images stored in the camera’s internal memory, simply transfer (Copy) them to the memory card first, then use the card reader.

As to your camera, it’s most likely not worth fixing…particularly if it’s a cheap Kodak. So, when you do buy a new camera, I recommend you avoid Kodak. Just try to be more careful with where you leave it.

Answer by snowwillow20

It is damaged. Use a usb card reader to download your pics.

Answer by Camera R

Use a “USB SDHC card reader” to download your pictures ($ 3 on Amazon). As for the lens obstructed error…

This has to be THE most common failure mode for a digital camera. Some common error messages that might show up on the LCD’s of cameras with this problem include “E18 lens error” (older Canons), “ACCESS” error (Sony), “Zoom Error” (Fuji), “Lens Obstructed” (Kodak), “lens error, restart camera” or just “lens error” (nearly all camera makers lately use this variation). Some cameras might show nothing at all, but merely make a beeping noise as the lens goes out, then in, then the camera shuts off. Sometimes the lens won’t even move.

The problem is actually quite common throughout ALL camera brands. Usually it’s sand or grit interfering with the lens extension mechanism. Or the camera’s been dropped with the lens extended. Or the camera has been powered on, but the lens had been blocked preventing its extension. Or the battery ran down with the lens extended. Believe it or not, one BIG contributor to lens errors is using a camera case. Sand, gunk, case fibers, etc… accumulate at the bottom of the case. These materials love to cling to the camera by electrostatic build-up from the camera rubbing against the side of the case (especially those cases with soft fibrous intreriors). Once these materials work their way into the lens mechanism, that’s all she wrote. I have many Canon’s, and NEVER use a case for this very reason.

A camera owner that suffers this problem may have no recourse for having the camera repaired. Many camera makers will not honor repairing this problem under warranty as they claim it is due to impact damage to the camera, or sand or debris getting into the lens gearing mechanism (neither of which is covered under warranty). The quoted repair cost is usually close to or more than what the camera is actually worth.

Fortunately, about half the cameras that suffer this failure can easily be fixed by one of the methods listed in the following article:

http://camerarepair.blogspot.com/2007/12/fixing-lens-error-on-digital-camera.html

Answer by A H

I bought my daughter one and it did the same thing. No nephew nor anyone else for that matter sat on it. It just stopped working 4 days after she got it for a Xmas present. Don’t be too hard on yourself…obviously Kodak has lost any reputation it had for providing quality cameras. We took it back and got a Cannon–which we should have bought in the first place!
