Any source other than the Bible say that Jesus on what?

Dilemma caused by Spazzy- McGee: What are some sources outside of the Bible that talk about Jesus?

I know there are some Christian texts that were left out of the Bible when it was first put togethor, how many of those are there?

Are there any Roman legal documents talking about a Jewish savior?

Anything would help, thanks.

“Left out” is a gross misstatement… From c. 170 A.D., over a century and a half BEFORE the councils which people erroneously claim “removed” books from the Bible, we have the oldest extant “canon” or catalog of authoritative New Testament literature. This document, called the “Muratorian Canon,” states explicitly that there are FOUR authoritative Gospels. This leaves us with two possibilities concerning the so-called “Gnostic gospels.” Either they did not yet exist, or they were already clearly understood to be inauthentic.

OK, extra-Biblical sources, approximate dates of writings:

Ignatius, 60-110 A.D.

Clement-Rome, 96 A.D.

Didache, 110 A.D.

Irenaeus, 150-200 A.D.

Papias, 100-150 A.D.

Polycarp, 90-150 A.D.

Shepherd of Hermas, 150-160 A.D.

Justin Martyr, 156 A.D.

Tertullian, 190-220 A.D.

Roman documents: Josephus, a historian, (late 1st century) has a minor statement.

Since the Gnostic texts are forgeries, (or properly signed texts opposed to the Bible) I will not include them.

Answer by walter ego

Josephus wrote accounts about Him and the early church, although he was never a believer himself.

Answer by Solly Wolly Doodle NOR♦CAL R&S

There is no corroborative evidence for anything about Jesus.

@walter ego: “by the mid 18th century the consensus view was that it (Josephus’ writing about Jesus) was a forgery.”

Answer by Carl Marks not Karl Marx

Only Josephus Flavius. Most of his work is in dispute though.

Answer by Jacob’s Beloved

“There are two extant references in Josephus on Jesus, the one directly concerning Jesus has come to be known as the Testimonium Flavianum. These passages appear in The Antiquities of the Jews, written in the year 93 by the Jewish historian Josephus. All extant copies of this work, which all derive from Christian sources, even the recently recovered Arabic version, contain the two passages about Jesus. The authenticity of the Testimonium Flavianum has been disputed since the 17th century, and by the mid 18th century the consensus view was that it was a forgery. The other passage simply mentions Jesus as the brother of James, also known as James the Just. Though most scholars consider this passage genuine [1], its authenticity has been disputed by Emil Schürer as well by several recent popular writers.”

hotep,

Well, it is a tricky question. There are no source outside the bible and the Gnostic bible that validate Jesus Christ existence. There was rumored to be a rabbi, but his story has been found to be full of more holes than swiss cheese. The Gnostic’s did not believe the stories were actual, but meant to be a moral lesson. However, the Jewish talmud does speak of possibly three people that could have been written into christian myth as jesus. All three men had similar names, all three angered the Jewish power structure, and all three were crucified. However, these men were in no way the Christ. The Christ story is a myth copied from another myth more than 3000 years older than christianity. Read about Isis and Horus, the original mother goddess and god child.

okazwego, that would be Horus, his mother Isis and his father Osiris. Horus/Jesus. lol Isis and Osiris were twin brother and sister. The only source I have found is the Dragon bloodline family tree in which Jesus, his wife and 3 children are listed among their ancestors. They have kept records since Cain. The bible is based on Sumer history. Abram was from Ur of Sumer. He naturally carried his history with him when he left Ur. It later was written down in a religious context. Ancient Sumer records confirm Cain. But, nothing about Enlil/Yahweh and his half brother Enki being real gods. Enki is listed as a brilliant scientist and geneticist. From apes we do come but with a little scientific help. Like a petri dish, or as we call them today, test tube babies.

Answer by austin_dom82

other than religious texts there is nothing else that talks about jesus some fundies try to quote a jewish historian Josephus but scholars have proven those writings to be forgeries.

Absolutely not a single historian that lived AT THE SAME TIME as this “jesus” have written any record about his existence. There were many historians from many nations and they dedicated their lives to traveling the world and recording observations. It is as if this guy never existed…
